  • Service Providers: We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers (such as SimpleTexting) who assist us in delivering the SMS messages. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us.

  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process.

  • Exclusion for SMS Opt-in Data: Notwithstanding any other language in this policy, all the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties for any reason.

4. Your Choices and Opt-Out

  • Opt-Out: You may cancel the Service at any time. To stop receiving text messages, reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any message you receive from us. You will receive one final confirmation message as proof that you have been unsubscribed.

  • Help: For more information or assistance, reply HELP to any message or contact us at officers@dobbsferryunitedteachers.org.

5. Data Security and Retention

We implement reasonable physical, technical, and administrative security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. We retain your information for as long as you remain opted-in to the Service or as required by law.

Standard message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency varies based on your interaction with us.

Agreement to Receive Text Messages

By providing your mobile number, you agree that American Federation of Teachers-Dobbs Ferry United Teachers (DFUT) may send you periodic SMS or MMS messages. These messages may include, but are not limited to, important union updates, meeting reminders, contract negotiations news, and emergency alerts.

Message Frequency and Opt-Out

  • Frequency: You will receive up to 4 messages per month.

  • To Opt-Out: You may unsubscribe at any time by texting the word STOP to [Insert Union Phone Number]. You may receive a final message confirming your opt-out request.

  • For Support: contact DFUT Secretary at officers@dobbsferryunitedteachers.org. 

Costs and Carriers

  • Message and data rates may apply. * Participating Carriers: Include but are not limited to AT&T, T-Mobile®, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Boost, U.S. Cellular®, MetroPCS®, and others.

  • Liability: Carriers (including T-Mobile) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Member Responsibilities

You agree to notify DFUT of any changes to your mobile number to ensure continued receipt of important information and to protect your privacy.

Privacy and Data Usage

Data obtained from you in connection with this SMS service may include your mobile number, your carrier’s name, and the date, time, and content of your messages. We use this information strictly for union business and to provide the communication services you request. We do not sell or share your contact information with third-party marketers.

Service Changes

DFUT reserves the right to change or terminate the SMS service at any time, with or without cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged for the text messages I receive?

DFUT does not charge members to receive text updates. However, depending on your specific mobile phone plan, your carrier may charge standard message and data rates. Please consult your wireless provider if you have questions about your text or data plan.
