01/21/2026 DFUT Update: Retirement Deadline, PTC Payment & FixTier6 Rally

Dear Members,

I hope 2026 is off to a good start! Please see below for important updates and reminders. Thank you for taking action to keep our union strong.

Retirement Notification Deadline is February 1st: If you will be retiring this year, please remember to send Superintendent Slentz your official resignation by February 1 to get the benefit under Article VII Section G and don’t forget to sign up for the Welcome to Retirement Workshop 

Parent-Teacher Conference Payment: DFUT has negotiated payment for Members who attended two parent-teacher conferences. If you attended a second parent-teacher conference night in fall 2025, please enter it into Wincap.

  • Pay Authorization: As the rate of pay is the same as additional back to school nights, you can use the same pay authorization: Additional Back To School Night.

  • Notes Field: In the notes field, you must indicate it is for an Additional PTC.

Member Spotlight on Serena Buschi: We want to highlight the work of our own Serena Buschi, a professional artist and high school art teacher. You can check out her current and upcoming exhibitions, including her work in the CRAZY exhibition at the BAU Gallery in Beacon (running through Feb 8).

Fix Tier 6 Rally Registration: The fight to Fix Tier 6 continues! The statewide rally is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the MVP Arena in Albany. We need a strong showing to support pension reform.
